EQForge Privacy Policy
Last updated 27 October 2026
Short version: EQForge collects no data. It has no account, no analytics, no tracking and makes no network requests. Everything it does happens on your Mac.
What EQForge does with audio
EQForge enhances the sound of the Spotify app for Mac. To do that, it uses a macOS Core Audio process tap to receive Spotify’s audio, applies your equalizer and effects, and plays the result — live, on your Mac.
- Only Spotify’s audio is processed. Other apps’ sound is never touched.
- Audio is never recorded, saved to disk or sent anywhere.
- The microphone is never used.
The audio-recording permission
The first time you press the power button, macOS asks whether EQForge may record audio. This is the permission macOS requires for any app that processes another app’s sound. In System Settings it is listed under Privacy & Security › Microphone. EQForge uses it only to process Spotify’s audio as described above. You can turn it off at any time.
What is stored on your Mac
Your equalizer and effect settings are saved in the app’s local preferences so they’re there next time. They never leave your Mac. Deleting the app removes them.
What we collect
Nothing. EQForge has no account, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no network access. Its App Store privacy label is “Data Not Collected”.
Spotify
EQForge doesn’t modify Spotify or its files. Pressing power again, or quitting EQForge, restores Spotify’s normal sound. EQForge is not affiliated with or endorsed by Spotify AB. Spotify is a trademark of Spotify AB.
Children
EQForge collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
